Rava Dosa …..hmmm ….Ohh dear rava dosa u made me crazy …I came to knw to abt this delicious dosa when i went to do my engineering in Dindigal . I think we malayalees are not that familier with rava dosa in Kerala .As everyone say love at first sight ,the same happend with me in the case of rava dosa !!..he he😛
The very first bite itself made me love that tasty dosa …So I continued having rava dosa in my 4 year Dindigal engineering life ..After completing my course there is no way to have my dear dosa ..So thought of giving a try .That time my hobby was to try new new recipes and most of them ended up in disasters .
So asked my tamil friend Dharini and she gave me the recipe ..But i forgot to ask the way of making that ..I thought its same as our dosa..So that day i made an annoucement in my house ..”Amma …Today i am going to give u all a surprise …U dont need to make beakfast today ,u just sit there and relax.”Mole, what are u going to make ..U just wait and see amma …just the matter of few minitutes ..molu ,u do ur experiment but let me make poori and subji .Ur uncle is coming with in an hour ,so he will be here for breakfast …Amma… that will be great ..So he will be happy seeing me cooking ..!!!
What to say my dear friends i didnt allow my amma to enter the kitchen ,and i started making my rava dosa ..My God whats happening ..When i made that like dosa its began to clotted up and stick in the thava and didnt get into the shape ..I thought may be its coz of low heat ..So i removed the dosa using a scrubber and began to pour the second one ..EEswara ..enne pariskhikkaruthee……i lost my faith …began to shiver ..u can understand my situation na ..Everyone are waiting for the breakfast ,nothing is thr ,uncle is coming .My god ..I was like trembling with fear …I didn`t have strength to face my amma …..I feel like running from there and hiding somewhere ….!!! Still i managed to face my amma and said” amma innu entho sari akunnilla,nale try cheyyam.U carry on with poori ..U can imagine the reactions went through her face ….he he …. ;;)
From that day to last week i was tring to make my dear rava dosa ..But had same kind of bitter experiences …Poor me ..😦
I took it as a challenge and my friends at last i made it ……Though the shape is not tht good ,still the taste was superb ….But when i finished my cooking my kitchen was like a garbage Cooking range was sprayed with full of dosa batter ..he he ..But still i was like dancing …Was so so happy …………………………………So come on friends join in my happiness and lets dance together <:-P
..And i knw u all will become masters in making rava dosa .
Green chilly-3(chopped finely)
Asafetida /hing-one pinch
Ginger -1tsp (grated)
Salt -to taste
Mix rava,maida,rice flour with adequate amount of water to make the batter in buttermilk consistency in a big bowl.
Add green chilly ,curry leaves ,hing,ginger ,cashew nuts ,pepper,salt ,cumin seeds and mix well.No need to soak.U can just make as soon as u mix the batter ..If u want u can keep aside for half an hour b4 making ..
Heat the non stick tawa and when it is hot , smear 1/2tsp of oil on the tawa with a clean cloth.Sprinkle the batter on to the thawa.(you have to keep on mixing the batter otherwise rava may settle down .Take the batter bowl in the left hand ,keep mixing with right hand and sprinkle).
Keep sprinkling till u get a nice shape.
Once u sprinkle it,it will look like a net .
Drizzle few drops of oil around and on the dosa.Spread it evenly.
Cook for 2-3 minutes .Now turn it upside down and cook for 2 minutes in low flame.
Remove the dosa to a serving plate .
Again adjust the flame to high and make remaining dosas.
You can serve with sambhar or anykind of chutneys.
U can add chopped onion as well when mixing the batter.Note to sprinkle the chopped ingredients while sprinkling the batter to tawa. U can keep the dosa batter in a tight container and keep it in the fridge for 3-4 days and make dosa whenever u feel to ..
U can make like this way also ..My friend shared me the method
After mixing the rava batter ,heat the tawa in high flame .Then Mix the batter well using a small cup .Take 3/4 th cup of batter and just pour in the hot tawa …After few seconds u can spread ghee or oil ..when done turn and cook the other side also…
So u guys make rava dosa and enjoy eating
